Weston Villa has officially advanced to the UFL Super Cup Semifinals following a 2-0 victory over A.C. Real Rosso. It was a demanding match for the squad right from the start. Due to unforeseen outside factors before kickoff, the team was left with only two available substitutes on the bench. Playing with a limited roster in the 90-plus degree Florida heat meant the players had to rely heavily on their conditioning and focus to manage the game.
The team finally broke through the Rosso defense on a set piece. Maurizio Sano got on the end of a corner kick and headed the ball in to give Weston Villa the lead. Later in the match, Ere Arcanjo doubled the advantage through sheer effort. Arcanjo stole the ball directly from a Rosso defender, drove forward into a 1-on-1 with the keeper, and finished smoothly by placing the ball into the far right side of the net.
While the offense capitalized on its chances, the defense put in a very solid shift to secure the clean sheet. The backline consistently disrupted A.C. Real Rosso’s attacks and controlled the pace of the game. When the opposition did manage to get a look at the goal, keeper Alejandro Medina came in clutch, making several key saves to lock down the win and keep the cup run alive.
